Lady of the Valley Church is located on Al-Saih mountain, which rises about 1000 meters above sea level, and was known as al-Bahra mountain, but its name as Al-Saih was due to an old belief that one of the monks called Thomas al-Homsi came to the area in the 6th century AD and used to preach and guide people until he settled in it, and built a silo next to a spring of water on the top of the mountain, where he believed that its waters were sacred and blessed.
Therefore, sacrifices were offered in this place. The tomb of the monk, Thomas al-Homsi, later became a shrine for people to take blessings.
Recently, Lady of the Valley Church was built on top of the mountain, and next to it is the largest statue of the Virgin Mary in Syria and the region, as additional tourist landmarks for visitors from everywhere to take memorial photos.
