Al-Hosn Castle is a Catholic castle dating back to the period of the Crusades, located within the coastal mountain ranges in Homs Governorate in Syria, 60 km away from the city of Homs, and due to the historical and architectural importance of the fort, the UNESCO considered it an important historical fortress because it contains a great human heritage, and in 2006 The castle was registered on the World Heritage List.
The castle is located in the town of Al-Hosn in Wadi Al-Nasara in the governorate of Humsa, 30 km away, and in the geographical area between the cities of Homs and Tartous. The castle is considered one of the most beautiful archaeological castles in the Middle East and the world.
It is believed that the castle was built over the ruins of an older castle called “Shepton”, which was built by the Pharaohs when they invaded Syria under the leadership of Ramses II in the 15th century BC.
