This monastery was called Al-Hamira, in relation to a piece of the body of Saint George after he was killed by the pagans who cut his body. The monastery is famous for the existence of an archaeological gate with a religious character called the door of the Persians. Which is attributed to the horse of Saint George, who entered through this small gate in a miraculous way, riding it during his war against the pagans, defending the monastery and the monks inside it.
